If you are looking to buy a detached home in Barrie, we have put together a list of the 5 neighbourhoods that saw the most price growth in 2017. The City of Barrie has many different neighbourhoods, and it can be hard when choosing a home to decide which would suit you best. We have collected data on the annual price growth for detached homes in 2017, across Barrie’s 11 neighbourhoods. It is still unclear what growth we will see in 2018, but looking at the data from 2017, we can narrow down what neighbourhoods could show the most potential. 

1.Ardagh

2017 Growth – 25.38%

Ardagh saw the highest growth, with a 25.38% price growth for 2017. This neighbourhood is located in central-west Barrie and features over 6 parks and 5 different schools, both elementary and secondary, as well as the Ardagh Bluffs hiking trails. This neighbourhood has seen many new developments including the Gallery Condo buildings and the Manhattan condos, which have definitely contributed to the growth. Ardagh has become a highly sought-after neighbourhood and provides a great area for families.

2. Holly

2017 Growth – 25.03 %

Holly is the most south-western neighbourhood in Barrie and it borders on Essa township. The Holly neighbourhood features the Tangle Creek golf club and the Holly community centre and 4 schools within its borders. This neighbourhood has seen the second highest growth in Barrie for 2017 and a main contributor to this growth being the new Bear Creek ridge development by Pratt homes. Holly definitely offers a lot of potential and provides a great community for families.

3. East End

2017 Growth – 23.75%

The East end of Barrie is a great location in Barrie, located in close proximity to Lake Simcoe, Georgian College and the RVH, this neighbourhood provides tons of amenities. This neighbourhood features an awesome lookout, the Vancouver Lookout, a great gem with awesome views. Given everything the East end has to offer, people are seeing its value and this is definitely being reflected in home prices.  

4. City Centre (Downtown)

2017 Growth – 22.84%

Barrie’s downtown core has seen some significant growth over the last year. The downtown core has seen new condo developments built and new building proposals, helping contribute to the overall growth. Located on the shores of Kempenfelt bay, Barrie’s city centre offers tons of amenities, including easy access to the waterfront GO station and many amazing waterfront parks. With the extension of all-day service on the GO train from Barrie to Toronto, the city centre is continually appealing to more and more young professionals.  

5. North End

2017 Growth – 22.77%

The North end Barrie has gone through a lot of development in 2017, especially due to the construction of the Junction condos. Two additional condo developments will be coming to the area, and both will be located on Little Lake. The North end has become one of the most desirable locations in Barrie and is located close to Little Lake, Georgian College, RVH. With the new developments the area can expect to see continued growth.
